It’s hard to wrap my head around the number 400,000. Today, my profile on Flightsim.to hit that major milestone. 400,000 total downloads.
The journey began on January 8, 2021, with the release of my first MSFS scenery: my second home KMYF Montgomery-Gibbs. It took nearly three years to reach 300,000 downloads (a threshold we crossed in November last year), but to add another 100,000 in just about 13 months is a pace I never expected. 25 different airport sceneries in US and Europe. Only GA and 99% of airport, I'm lucky to have fly in real.
A Realistic Perspective Let's be honest: I know that 400,000 downloads doesn't mean 400,000 unique users. I also know that I haven’t produced any entirely new scenery this year. Between a lack of free time and the technical skills required to build larger, more complex hubs, my amateur work has shifted toward maintenance and refinement.
This milestone actually belongs to the community. These tweaks are mostly driven by the content you provide - the direct messages, the feedback, and the reference photos or videos found on the internet that allow me to make these places more accurate even when I can't be there in person.
Gratitude to the Community I am also deeply grateful to those who have participated by donating via BuyMeACoffee or directly via PayPal. It is always appreciated, and some of you have been very generous indeed.
I'd also like to acknowledge the creators whose work I’ve been able to integrate. Such as the objects provided by Bullfrogsim, Cli4D, Bishopofwings, Romain Broquet, and Helijah. This "open source" spirit is what keeps the freeware scene alive.
What’s Next? Even without "new" airports on the immediate horizon, this milestone gives me a fresh boost of energy to keep my current catalog in top shape for the latest sim updates.
Thank you for being part of this journey since 2021.
